If you’re looking for therapy in Kirkland, WA or online counseling in Washington State, you may have questions about how the process works. Below are answers to common questions about getting started, insurance (including Premera), and what to expect in therapy.

Do you offer in-person and online counseling?

Yes. We offer both in-person counseling in Kirkland, WA and secure online therapy (telehealth) across Washington State, including Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, and surrounding areas.

Online therapy provides flexibility and convenience, while in-person sessions offer a more traditional face-to-face experience.

What to expect at the first appointment?

Your first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding your goals. You can expect:

  • A safe, supportive, and confidential space

  • Questions about your current challenges and history

  • Collaboration on therapy goals

  • A plan for moving forward

You don’t need to prepare anything—just come as you are.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Cash, Check, Debit/Credit card and HSA accounts. Payment is due at your appointment.

Telehealth appointments are Credit/Debit/HSA only

Do you accept insurance?

Most of our clinicians are out-of-network providers. However, some of our therapists now accept Premera Blue Cross.

For out-of-network services, your counselor can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Depending on your plan, many insurance companies reimburse a portion of mental health session costs.

Important notes:

  • We are a private pay practice

  • Superbills are provided as a courtesy and do not guarantee reimbursement

  • We are not responsible for insurance requirements or communication with your provider

We recommend contacting your insurance company and asking:

  • Does my plan cover mental health visits?

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits?

How long does therapy usually take?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and concerns.

  • Some clients benefit from short-term therapy (6–12 sessions)

  • Others prefer ongoing support over several months or longer

Specialized therapies like EMDR and Lifespan Integration can help accelerate healing for trauma-related concerns.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We provide a wide range of mental health counseling services tailored to your needs, including:

Our therapists use evidence-based approaches to support healing, growth, and long-term change.

Do you offer counseling for teens?

Yes. We provide therapy for teens, college students, and young adults, including support for:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • School stress and transitions

  • ADHD and focus challenges

  • Family changes, including divorce

Our therapists tailor their approach to meet each client’s developmental needs.

Can I use therapy if I’m not sure what’s wrong?

Absolutely. You don’t need a diagnosis or a clear problem to start therapy. Many clients come in feeling:

  • Overwhelmed or stuck

  • Uncertain about life direction

  • Emotionally exhausted

  • Disconnected from themselves or others

Therapy can help you gain clarity, process emotions, and move forward with confidence.

Both counseling and coaching support mental health, but they serve different purposes:

Counseling (therapy):

  • Focuses on healing past trauma, emotional pain, and mental health concerns

  • Provided by licensed therapists

  • Often explores the “why” behind thoughts and emotions

Mental health coaching:

  • Focuses on the present and future

  • Helps with goal-setting, routines, and accountability

  • Emphasizes practical strategies for daily life

Many people benefit from a combination of both, depending on their needs.
