The transition into college is a very exciting time.

It can also be a stressful time.

Anxiety, depression, fear and self-doubt are often experienced in this transition time.

College can be a stressful time that needs some outside help to walk with you through this important time of your life.

If you are having trouble:

  • Believing in your ability to be successful in college

  • Feeling anxious and overwhelmed (about the present and/or the future)

  • Struggling with relationships (roommates, romantic, friends, etc)

  • Struggling with completing your degree

  • With feelings of loneliness and isolation

  • Struggling with criticizing your body

  • Making sense of your experiences

Or you have suffered a trauma and need a place to process and heal. You do not need to walk through this alone. We would love to walk with you and work through your stories of harm and trauma so that you can experience your life in the ways that bring fulfillment.

As fun as roommates are, they also bring their own set of relational navigating. How to navigate hard conversations with roommates? What to do with conflict? We can help equip you with tools to engage in conflict and have hard conversations without inadvertently rupturing the relationship.

The social pressure of college can feel intimidating. You are not alone. Social pressures and expectations are different than in high school with the added stress of grades, internships and career prospects. We can help you create more balance. We can also help you process the social pressures you are facing and what you believe in the midst of those pressures.

It is common to have body image issues surface in college. Working with a counselor when you begin to notice you are restricting, binging, over-exercising and/or feeling controlled by an exercise schedule and having frequent negative thoughts about your body and/or eating habits can help put you on a path towards health vs on a destructive path.

Navigating the college experience from admissions to graduation is as exciting as it is daunting. It is normal to need a place outside of family and friends to have that is just yours to make sense and even understand and feel what you are experiencing. We are proud of you for being here.

How can counseling help?

Counseling helps provide a place safe for you to explore your experiences and the paths that brought you here today.  It is our goal to help you identify your gifts and talents and also strengthen your identity.  You do not have to navigate this season in your life by yourself. We are here to help you develop your sense of self.

Meeting with a counselor helps provide an anchor to who you are becoming and who you have been. What are your strengths and gifts that you want to bring forward into your present and your future? What are some areas of your story that need healing so you can be in your present?
